Dr. Wang Xiaoxu of the School of Economics and Management, as the first author, published a research report “Major Problems in Jiangxi Health-related Poverty Alleviation and Corresponding Solutions” (《我省健康扶贫工程实施过程中面临的问题及建议》in Chinese), which has been noted by provincial officials. Secretary Lu Xinshe of CPC Jiangxi Committee, Deputy Secretary and Governor Liu Qi and Deputy Governor Xie Ru made important instructions according to the report.
The report demonstrates that in Jiangxi Province, the rate of illness-related poverty or returning to poverty is as high as 57.1%, and the rate of illness-caused debt is as high as 43.49%. This series of data has drawn the attention of provincial leaders and provided a direction for precision poverty relief in Jiangxi Province. The report proposed four suggestions to address the problems, and to promote local economic growth and contribute to the building of a healthy Jiangxi.
