ECJTU
provides versatile diploma and non-diploma education at
different levels for those who are interested in Chinese
culture, and welcomes students from abroad to study at ECJTU.
ECJTU possesses excellent faculty consisting of pioneering
young researchers, famous senior scholars and experts. Moreover,
the university invites many famous experts to give lectures
on subjects other than the Chinese language. The school
opens elective courses such as Chinese literature, Chinese
history, Chinese ecnomics, Chinese philosophy and Chinese
law for interested international students. According to
their different requirements, these courses will also introduce
basic knowledge of Chinese social economy, history and culture.
ECJTU applies itself to train students
to understand traditional Chinese culture, to cultivate
students with proficient ability in Chinese. As you may
know, in today’s world, international experience is
a much desired quality. The diploma education includes 30
undergraduate programs for a bachelor’s degree, such
as art, ecnomics, law, management, computer science, civil
engineering, architecture and so on. Non-diploma education
includes Chinese culture and art program, summer (winter)
camp for international students, long-term Chinese language
students, short-term Chinese language students, etc.
Besides, if you want to continue
your undergraduate studying at ECJTU, your credit hours
can be changed into ours, so you can only study some lessons,
we recognize the credit hours you have completed in your
formal university. These students will get two diplomas
and two bachelor’s degrees when they complete all
the credit hours and recognized by both part.
International Cooperation and Exchanges
Office is responsible for the management of all international
students at East China Jiaotong University.
1.Chinese language students
1)Long-term students, a year to 2 years,
start in February, application period: October 1 to December
30, March 1 to June 30.
2)Short-term students (include summer or winter international
student camp), start any time, a month to a year, apply
two months beforehand.
Objective: The students will use Chinese
freely to listening, speaking, reading, writing and so
on, and to found a solid base for major study or better
jobs.
Requirements: To enter without examination, upon 18 years
old; and is interested in Chinese.
Professional Chinese teachers will train the students
in listening, speaking, reading and writing. In order
to guarantee the quality, the School will divide the students
into small classes of low, middle and high level according
to their Chinese language ability.
All the above students, having accomplished their study,
will be given Study Certificate and transcript.
2.Undergraduate program students
Objective:
1)Chinese language program: to provide the knowledge for
art and Chinese literature, to master technology for modern
information transmitting, to adapt expressions for Chinese
language, to cultivate students for complicated ability
for applying of Chinese language, to train students with
advanced international outlook.
2)Other program: cultivate students for professional practice
and systematic knowledge to be an advanced international
expert.
Requirements: To enter without examination, upon 18 years
old; and is interested in Chinese, have passed HSK examination.
Academics: the same undergraduate program with native
students. Also the same diploma and the same degree with
native students.
All the above programs are taught in Chinese. Upon graduation,
qualified students will get ECJTU’s diploma and
degrees. These students could choose all the majors in
undergraduate programs and will have lessons together
with Chinese students.

accomodation fee: for single room $8.00 a day

4.Application Method and Procedures
Application Method
Students who need the Chinese Government scholarship should
apply to the Education Commission of China through related
governmental department of their respective countries.
Self-supporting students should apply directly from the
international cooperation and exchange center
Application Procedures
Step one: Ask for Application Form For Foreigners Wishing
To Study at ECJTU and Physical Examination Record For
Foreigner from International Cooperation and Exchange
Center .
Step two: Fill in those forms and have physical examination
according to the items listed in the Form (The result
needs to be notarized).
Step three: Send these two forms (Physical Examination
Record For Foreigner is excused if the study period is
less than 6 months), application fee and other related
application materials to International Cooperation and
Exchange Center before the application deadline.
Step four: Admission Notice and Visa Clearance Form (JW202)
will be sent to students who have been admitted six weeks
before registration.
Step five: Admitted students should take Admission Notice
and Visa Clearance Form (JW202) to the Chinese Embassy
to apply for study visa (X visa). JW202 must be taken
back even if the Embassy wants to keep it.
Step six: Admitted students should take Admission Notice
and Visa Clearance Form (JW202) to register at International
Cooperation and Exchange Center within the registration
period mentioned in the Admission Notice. Otherwise, one
will be deprived of the student status. Exception can
be made to students who have informed the school of their
special reasons and whose delay has been permitted.
